Operations and Maintenance Specialist for a Technological Workplace
📍 Sherbrooke (QC) – On-site
ABOUT THE POSITION
At DistriQ, buildings are working environments used daily by fast-growing quantum companies. The smooth operation of the facilities directly influences the teams' ability to work, focus, and produce.
As the Facility Manager of Espace Quantique 1, you will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and improvement of the building, with constant attention paid to the concrete needs of our resident companies.
Your role consists of ensuring a reliable, safe, and functional environment by anticipating issues, coordinating interventions, and maintaining a close relationship with residents.
YOUR ROLE
You will take charge of the overall operation of the Espace Quantique 1 building, including its electromechanical systems and specialized equipment.
You will also contribute to maintaining infrastructure performance, safety, and reliability standards, in accordance with the operational procedures of the department responsible for facility operations and maintenance.
You will act as the go-to field reference for everything related to the building: maintenance, equipment monitoring, work coordination, emergency response, and continuous improvement of the facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure preventive, corrective, and on-demand operation and maintenance of the building and its systems (HVAC, mechanical, electricity, plumbing)
Perform inspections, rounds, and equipment readings, manually or via building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
Document interventions, work plans, and follow-ups (including the use or implementation of a CMMS)
Respond to emergency calls according to established guidelines
Coordinate maintenance, repair, and replacement work with subcontractors and suppliers
Monitor the quality of interventions and compliance with applicable standards
Maintain clean, safe, and functional work and equipment spaces
Respond to requests and concerns from resident companies in a professional and structured manner
Recommend adjustments or improvements aimed at facility reliability and efficiency
Contribute to a continuous improvement approach to operations, safety, and service
Participate in procurement management related to building maintenance (quotes, suppliers, inventory)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
On-site work at Espace Quantique 1, located at 1950 rue Roy in Sherbrooke
Regular interaction with resident companies, DistriQ's internal team, and technical partners
REQUISITE PROFILE
Relevant training: building systems engineering technology, facility operations, engineering technology, trade certification, or a related field
At least four years of relevant experience in building maintenance and operations
Experience with building automation systems (BMS) and CMMS tools (asset)
Good judgment, autonomy, and sense of responsibility
Ability to prioritize and resolve a variety of operational situations
Comfortable interacting with users, suppliers, and colleagues
Interest in continuous learning and evolving industry practices
