Opening of Quantum Space 1 to the public: a day marked by discovery and curiosity

Sherbrooke, on May 2, 2026 — The opening of Espace Quantique 1 to the general public sparked great enthusiasm, as more than 150 visitors responded to the invitation to dive into the heart of the quantum universe.

Education, intrigue, curiosity and possibilities: these are the words that emerged to describe their experience at the end of this open house.

Throughout the event, participants were able to explore the many facets of quantum science and discover how this rapidly evolving field is taking shape in concrete terms within the Sherbrooke ecosystem.

This success is built on the commitment of more than 20 participants, volunteers and students, as well as the valuable collaboration of key partners, including SBQuantum, Irréversible Inc., Nord Quantique, the Quantum Institute of the University of Sherbrooke, Cégep de Sherbrooke and the City of Sherbrooke.

The event also featured door prize drawings, made possible thanks to the support of Desjardins, Bell Media (Rouge FM), Cégep de Sherbrooke, the Quantum Institute of the University of Sherbrooke and the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science.

Building on this enthusiasm, DistriQ is now inviting the public to the next edition of this initiative, which is part of the 24 Hours of Science. This unique opportunity will once again make it possible to discover how local companies are turning quantum science into concrete solutions and perhaps even inspire tomorrow's talent to consider a career in this field of the future.
